Researchers join Ancestry. Since I completed my AncestryDNA test Dec 2016, I
have acquired over 42,000 1st-8th Cousins. And my DNA is on 3 other sites as
GEDmatch, MyHeritage and FamilyTreeDNA. Which I have Cousins on those sites as
well.
I notice of your Ancestry bio that of your 3 Public Trees
French Family Tree
1,180 People; 612 Records; 309 Media
Mom Birth Family Tree
102 People; 64 Records; 7 Media
Travis Peterson Family Tree

None are connected to your DNA, I do not have French, or Peterson in my Tree of
5,700+ Ancestors. I took a quick glance at the French & Mom tree, I have no
Cassidy's either.

my Ancestry shared DNA Tree
Blaschko, Eaton, Perry/Pereira Cardozo, Shaughnessy, Wilson
https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/tree/116281431/
My maternal grandmother was born in Hungary 1901, my Paternal grandmother born
1906 ME, her father born in the Azores 1882, and mother b. 1867, Foxboro, MA
They married into the Bowen Family of MA, and Wilson Family of CT.
My Wilson's descend from England & Scotland. My Paternal gr-grandmother b. 1882,
NY, her parents Shaughnessy are from Ireland.
A little research background, I was born last name Young, Father left before I
was 2 (or they separated/divorced), I did not know his name or what he looked
like, until I was 20 yrs old about to turn 21.
After knowing him, I gained 3 half sisters and a half brother from 2 of his
other marriages after my Mother a Wilson.
When I began in 1992 researching I was searching primarily for my Paternal
grandmother as she said we were Portuguese. Her maiden was Perry, however turns
out it would of been Pereira Cardozo/oso, as her Father born Azores 1882 was.
Only after immigrating 1884 with his mother, he became Anthony Dexter Perry.
And there are 4 generations back to 1793, Azores of Antonio Pereira Cardozo's I,
II, III, and IV my Anthony.
1994, a year before my Father passed Jan 1995, I learned he was born Newton
Richard Begnal, 1924, San Francisco. When I met him his name was Richard Newton
Young. So any Family History he may have had to share went to ashes when passed.
His Mother of Portuguese descent, passed in 1979, as did my Hungarian
grandmother in 1979.
So I have researched all these years with little to go on. In Dec 2018, came a
shock (one of many) from a 2nd Cousin living in Nova Scotia, sent me a 1900
marriage cert. of Elizabeth Shaughneesy (my paternal gr-grand) who married
Claude B Eaton. 3 yrs before my paternal grandfather who at the time was named
Clifford Franklin Begnal.
And for 24 yrs out of 27, I searched the Begnal names as if it was my blood
line. All the while I suspected that Clifford's father was not George F Begnal
(Irish ancestors). My 2nd Cousin a Rockwell of NY, sent also a 1928 letter from
Clifford to Ellen Shaughnessy, his Aunt, saying to not tell his Mother Elizabeth
that he wanted to know who his Father was, as Elizabeth had told him it was not
George F Begnal.
Only I do not have Ellen's reply, if in a letter or then over the phone.
This prompted me to take a Y-DNA test with FamilyTreeDNA (FTDNA) and on 5 Feb
2019, I was provided confirmation that my DNA blood line is that of Eaton.
I do not have any Eaton DNA matches on Ancestry, nor Young or Begnal. I do have
several Eaton's on FTDNA. Ancestry provides an Autosomal test, which is mainly
more of Ethnicity, which I do not care about.
I care about my blood line and what should of been my last name of Eaton. All of
which a similar scenario in other Researchers Trees could very possibly have
happened as well.
And all those born to Clifford & my Father, his brother included, are not Begnal
or Young by blood. Sure there maybe Young's in our shared lineage with the same
last name. And I am a match to a Kenneth Begnal on FTDNA, as he is my half
great-uncle.
And for whatever reasons you decided to take Ancestry's DNA test, I hope it
proves fruitful in your Lineage & DNA quest.
You are welcome to look at my Ancestry Tree, as you research adding Ancestor's
to see if one of your Ancestor's Path in Life crosses into My Ancestors along
the way.
Also I have my own Genealogy website, which has a Search feature to type in a
Surname to see if your Ancestor's sur/maiden names come up.
