My Notes: No documents really narrow down where Elijah was
born other than, VA, abt. 1830.  And the earliest I find any record for him
is the 1869 DC directory.  Which also shows an Albert (cigar-maker) & John
	H. Sullivan (cooper) same address as Elijah (cigar-maker) of 8 Potomac.
Which to confirm where Albert & John H. were and where born, would be the
1870 census, which I do find a John, age 44, b. VA, with a son named Albert
	W, age 19, b. D.C, next door to Elijah (40), Martha and David H.
Also there is always the chance Martha age 33, could of had David at age 18,
and that Elijah is not the bio father.

The fact is D.C. is bordered by VA, MD, WV, Elijah really could be from any
of those states, which WV comes after the CW.   The 1860 census would list
Elijah as born VA, not WV, and if Martha & Elijah are together by 1860, then
where is Martha, David and Elijah...which could be they have not yet met &
married, or if they every married.  We do know between 24 Sep 1863- 14 Sep
1866, Elijah is involved with the CW, per the one record a 3 yr enlistment.

That fits and since the one military record states single, they might not
have met until after his discharge 14 Sep 1866, also the pension is dated 29
Jun 1889, stating Martha and that she filed in, D.C.

The presumption would be that in 1850 Elijah was living in VA, possibly met
Martha abt. 1854, but there is no 1860 census putting them together, and
then here comes the Civil War.   Also, how do we know Elijah was born as a
	Sullivan?
Per Michele - 27 Jun 2014 I SUSPECT that David
Sullivan's name (born circa 1855 in VA) may have been changed to HOLLIDAY
	because on the 1900 census

Martha Sullivan is living with her DAUGHTER-IN-LAW Emma HOLLIDAY who is
also widowed.   On the 1880 DC census,

David HOLLIDAY, age 25, is married to Emma Holliday, age 20; they have
one son at this point, Henry Holliday, 7 months old.  This David
Holliday is the exact age as David Sullivan would be if both were born in
1855 as the census records indicate.   This is the only way
that Martha Sullivan could be living with someone with the last name of
Holliday who is also her daughter-in-law in 1900. ***There is a David H. Sullivan, who was born in VA and the right age, living in MO on the 1900 census I have put out a query
on the DC emailing list through rootsweb for the obit for Martha Sullivan.
She died in 1905.  The person providing the information was Emma Holliday.
Martha is buried, apparently alone, in Glenwood Cemetery in DC.
