Question and Answers - FYI - What we do not know and do know

Q) The only information you know for a fact I can see thus far, is that Ann married a William Richmond, 

for your father shared this with you?

A) This is true, and has been verified by myself in person when I visited them in 1961 in Austin, TX.

Also found by Nancy of Austin, TX: They are in the 1955 Austin city directory, William V. with a wife named Ann.  

He worked for the Sanitarium / State and County.  His address was 2109 La Casa Drive in Austin.

Q) And you know Ann and William were in Hawaii about 1941, but no proof Ann was with William in Hawaii during the war?

A) I have been told he was a cook, and she was a nurse in Hawaii.

Q) I am confused some, how do you know William's middle name is Vance or was that a typo and it is Lance, 

you had mentioned WL Richmond or are you going by the SSDI of a William V. Richmond only?

A) I knew he died about 1990 in Austin, TX;

Death Date: 10-18-1990.
With this, the SSDI was found:

            Name: William V. Richmond
            SSN: 563-40-4228
            Born: 12 Nov 1904
            Died: 18 Oct 1990
            State (Year) SSN issued: California (Before 1951 )

Q) Or do you know for a fact his name really is William L?

A) William L is the only one that died in Austin with a Texas SSN .. about
right age and all, but proven to be wrong.

Q) Do you agree that William could of been married before Ann?

A) There is that possibility, but I have never heard of it from any family members.

Q) How do you know William went to TX from CA after 1930 and I presume before going into the Navy, if so how?

A) I will have to wait for the 1940 census, but that should be when he was in the Navy.  

I know from family and the 1955 directory he indeed was there in 1955.

Q) Have you sent for his military records?

A) No.

Q) Have you checked for a marriage in CA and or TX for William and Ann?

A) No I have not. I no longer have access to Ancestry or HQ due to library closing.

FYI) I checked the TX birth records from 1903 - 1997 and no record of a William V. Richmond being born.  I did find the 

following.  However, you confirmed William L. is not your William.

WILLIAM L RICHMOND, b. 2 Feb 1922, d. 4 Sep 1999, at age 77.  Last Residence - Austin, Travis, TX 78753

WILLIAM H RICHMOND, b. 26 Mar 1904, d. 3 Feb 1988, at age 83.  Last Residence - Oakwood, Leon, TX 75855

What we do not know...is if William V. was born in TX or CA or another state.  We do not know for a fact if William V. Richmond was ever in CA.

We do know....that William V. and wife Ann were in the 1955 Austin city directory.  That William worked for the Sanitarium / State and County.  Their address was 2109 La Casa Drive in Austin.
